BYD UK Monthly Sales Report: Market Share and Model Breakdown, Jan 2025–Jun 2026

BYD’s UK sales rose sharply in June, underscoring how Chinese carmakers are gaining ground in one of Europe’s most competitive auto markets.

The company sold 6,242 vehicles in the UK in June 2026, up 36.2% from a year earlier, giving it a 2.9% market share. The result placed BYD close to Volvo, which sold 6,317 vehicles, and ahead of several smaller established and emerging brands. Volkswagen Group remained the market leader with 40,491 vehicles and a 19% share, followed by Hyundai-Kia with 19,532 units. Tesla sold 12,173 vehicles, helped by 6,765 Model Y registrations and 5,408 Model 3 registrations, while Chery reached 13,590 units after a surge led by the Jaecoo 7 plug-in hybrid.

BYD’s performance reflects a broader shift in the UK market. SAIC, Chery, Leapmotor, Geely, Xpeng and Changan all appeared in the June rankings, suggesting Chinese brands are no longer competing only at the margins. For BYD, the challenge is now to convert strong year-on-year growth into a steadier monthly sales base as Britain’s EV market becomes increasingly crowded.
